It was a sad day in Rock and Roll and a sad day in North Central Florida. In 2017, just a week after completing his 40th Anniversary Tour with the Heartbreakers, Tom Petty died after going into cardiac arrest at his home in Los Angeles. He was 66 years old.
On this day in 1982, the Peter Gabriel-era Genesis lineup reformed for a one-off show for the first time in seven years. It was a benefit to recoup the losses from Gabriel’s first WOMAD festival a few months earlier.
Happy birthday to Sting of the Police, born Gordon Sumner, who turns 69 today.
