July 17th, 1968, was the world premiere of the Beatles’ “Yellow Submarine” movie in London. Though the Beatles’ really just added four new songs and had a brief appearance at the end, it was a hit with fans and critics.
The ill-fated Monkees tour with Jimi Hendrix in the opening slot ended today in 1967. With the audience screaming for Davy Jones during Jimi’s set, both sides agreed he should leave the tour.
And on this day in 1974, The Moody Blues opened their new 32-track recording studio in London, the first able to mix albums in Quadrophonic sound.
