Today in 1980, The Rolling Stones threw a hospital-themed party in a trendy New York dance club to celebrate the release of their latest album, “Emotional Rescue.”
The Byrds hit the top of the charts on this day in 1965 with “Mr. Tambourine Man,” the first rock & roll cover of a Bob Dylan song. Roger McGuinn was the only band member on the backing track, playing his signature 12-string guitar part.
And Happy Birthday to Mick Jones, guitarist, vocalist, and co-founder of The Clash, who’s 66 today.
