A young Liverpool teenager named George Harrison joined a rock ‘n’ roll band on this day in 1959. They were called the Quarrymen, led by John Lennon and including a bassist named Paul McCartney.   You may have heard of them. 

Seven years later, in 1966, The Beatles played their last live concert ever . . . a huge stadium show at Candlestick Park in San Francisco. They confined their work to the studio from that point on.  

And today in 1970, The Kinks released their single, “Lola.” The song went to #1 in 6 different countries, as well as hitting #2 in the UK, and #9 in the US.
