Two rockers were facing off in court on this day in rock. In 1977, after nearly 10 months, Bruce Springsteen won a settlement in his suit against his former manager Mike Appel. Bruce also got control of his master tapes in the decision.
And in 1976, Gregg Allman testified against the Allman Brothers’ road manager, Scooter Herring, so he could avoid prosecution in a drug trafficking sting. Herring was sentenced to 75 years in prison, and the band broke up over the incident.
And happy birthday to John Fogerty. The one-time leader of Creedence Clearwater Revival turns 76.
