Jimi Hendrix arrived at London’s Heathrow airport with his manager Chas  Chandler today in 1966, with his guitar, a change of clothes, and not much else. Within days, the unknown guitarist would be onstage jamming with Eric Clapton and Cream.

Today in 1967, Traffic, featuring Steve Winwood, Dave Mason and Jim Capaldi, made their live debut at the Saville Theater in London. They were still recording their debut at the time.

And Nirvana’s “Nevermind” was released today in 1991, entering the charts at #144. The album would go on to sell 30 million copies and bring grunge to the mainstream.
