Today in 1969, the Who’s Pete Townshend spent an evening in a New York City jail. Someone ran on stage and grabbed the mic during a show, and Pete kicked him off. What he didn’t know was, it was a plainclothes policeman trying to tell the audience the building next door was on fire.  

David Crosby married Jan Dance on this day in 1987, just after he was released from prison on drug and firearms charges. Graham Nash and his wife Susan renewed their vows the same day in a double ceremony.  

Happy Birthday to guitarist Robert Fripp of King Crimson, who turns 75.
