In 1973, Led Zeppelin started a three-week run at No.1 on the US chart with their fifth album, Houses of the Holy. Oddly enough, the title track was left off the record at the last minute.

In 1967, Pink Floyd played the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London, reportedly the first show to include speakers at the back of the venue for quadraphonic sound. The system was stolen after the show and wasn’t recovered for years.

And happy birthday to singer, keyboardist and guitarist Steve Winwood, who turns 73.
