In 1973, The Who’s Roger Daltrey released his first solo album. It wasn’t a hit over here, but it did give him a top 5 single in England with “Giving It All Away.”

Today in 1974, Paul McCartney’s Band on the Run hit #1 in the U.S., on its way to going platinum six times over.

And in 1979 David Lee Roth collapsed on stage during a Van Halen show in Spokane, Washington. He was rushed to a doctor who treated him for a stomach virus and advised him to “calm down.”
