Today in 1962, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, both members of a group called “Blues, Incorporated,” saw guitarist Brian Jones play at the Ealing Club in London. They hit it off, and three months later, they’d form The Rolling Stones.
Richie Blackmore left Deep Purple on this day in 1975. He’d form Richie Blackmore’s Rainbow and return to Deep Purple from 1984 to 1993.
And in 1988, Alice Cooper had a close call when a safety rope broke while rehearsing a “hanging” stunt for his European tour. A roadie quickly saved him from hanging for real.
