More than 200,000 people flocked to see the first “California Jam” today in 1974 at Ontario Motor Speedway, featuring the Eagles, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, Deep Purple, and Black Sabbath.
On this day in 1968, Pink Floyd announced that founder Syd Barrett had officially left the group. He was suffering from psychiatric disorders, compounded by drug use.
And ‘Rolling Stones Records’ was formed on this day in 1971. Soon, the label’s first single would be “Brown Sugar,” and the first album, “Sticky Fingers.”
