Today in 1962, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards played on stage together for the first time at a club in Ealing, England. Their first band had the unfortunate name of “Little Boy Blue and The Blue Boys.”
Today in 1966, The Beatles did the photo session that became the infamous “Butcher Cover.” Later that year, it would cost their label a quarter of a million dollars to change the cover of “Yesterday and Today” only days before it hit stores.
And in 2001, a stretch of Highway 19 in Macon, Georgia was named Duane Allman Boulevard, near where the Allman Brothers’ guitarist died at age 24 in a motorcycle crash in October of 1971.
