‘Rock star’ John Lennon became ‘author’ John Lennon on this day in 1964 when his first book was published, a collection of strange drawings and poems titled “In His Own Write”–spelled “w-r-i-t-e.”
In 1972, “The Concert for Bangladesh” film premiered in New York. The shows raised just under a quarter of a million dollars for the cause, and the album and DVD continue to benefit the George Harrison Fund for UNICEF.
And happy birthday to the former leader of The Cars, the late Ric Ocasek, born today in 1949.
