The Rolling Stones had their fourth #1 record in the US today in 1967 with “Ruby Tuesday.” Since the original single, “Let’s Spend the Night Together,” was banned by several US radio stations, they just flipped it over and played the B-side.
Ten years later, The Stones played the first of two shows at a club called the El Mocambo in Toronto. Four songs turned up later that year as part of their “Love You Live” album.
And finally, the late Chris Squire of Yes, whose bass playing was a major part of the band’s sound from the beginning, was born today in 1948.
