Today in 1983, the Compact Disc was introduced in the U.S. Ten years later, it would outsell cassettes as the dominant music format; a title they held until digital downloads took over in 2011.  

The Beatles started filming “A Hard Day’s Night,” on this day in 1964. Originally intended as a quick way to cash in on Beatlemania, it’s become a cinema classic.  

And in birthday celebrations, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Jon Bon Jovi turns 59 today.
