In 1980, Pink Floyd’s “The Wall” concert came to Nassau Coliseum, on Long Island, New York, making the second and final stop on its American tour. The other shows were in Los Angeles the month before.
In 1975 Led Zeppelin released “Physical Graffiti,” their sixth LP and first double album set. Besides the record becoming an instant success, it also boasted one of the most costly album covers ever made.
And in 1976 “The Eagles’ Greatest Hits” became the first album to be certified platinum, the new record industry designation for albums with sales of over a million copies.
