Today in 1978, the Police filmed a commercial for Wrigley’s Spearmint Gum. They even dyed their hair blonde for the ad, which became an early trademark of the band. However, the footage was never used.  

Decca Records released the first single from Genesis, on this day in 1968, titled “The Silent Sun.” The tune was co-written by Tony Banks and Peter Gabriel.   

In 1967, The Beatles spent the day recording a single chord. An E Major, to be specific, and it lasted 43 seconds. John, Paul, Ringo, and Beatles’ assistant Mal Evans sat at three pianos, all playing the final chord to “A Day in the Life.”
