Today in 1968, John Lennon and George Harrison flew to India to study meditation with the Maharishi. The other two Beatles joined them a few days later. During their stay, they’d write most of the songs for “The White Album.”  

Happy Birthday to the original drummer of the Kinks, Mick Avory. The Rock and Roll Hall Famer is 77 today.  

And longtime Supertramp saxophone player John Helliwell, who’s also the MC of their live shows, is turning 76.
