Today in Rock History with Chris DeCarlo

February 12

The Police cut their first single on this day in 1977, “Fall Out.” Just 2000 copies were pressed; it’s their only release with their original guitarist, Henry Padovani.

In 1968, Jimi Hendrix played a show at Garfield High School in Seattle, Washington, where he’d attended, but dropped out. School officials presented him with an honorary diploma and the key to the city.

Five days after the Beatles first arrived on American shores back in 1964, they played their most prestigious concert to date: two shows at Carnegie Hall. It was followed by a trip to the White House and a meeting with LBJ.
