Today in Rock History with Chris DeCarlo

January 27

On this day in 1970, John Lennon recorded his first single of the decade. He wrote, recorded, and mixed the song “Instant Karma” in a single day. It was produced by Phil Spector.

Capricorn Records, a label that had such great Southern bands as the Allman Brothers and the Marshall Tucker Band, filed for bankruptcy, on this day in 1980. The label was resurrected in 1991.

And today is birthday #77 for drummer Nick Mason of Pink Floyd. He and Roger Waters formed the band in the mid-60’s.
