Bad Company formed in Newcastle, England, today in 1974. Vocalist Paul Rodgers and drummer Simon Kirke (kirk), both from the band Free, joined guitarist Mick Ralphs from Mott The Hoople, and bassist Boz Burrell (burr EL) from King Crimson. Their debut album was one of the first on Led Zeppelin’s Swan Song label.
A rock and roll tragedy occurred on this day in 1991 when three people were crushed to death at an AC/DC concert in Salt Lake City after too many fans rushed the stage.
And in other sad news, co-founder of The Eagles, Glenn Frey, died today in 2016 at age 67.
