The Doors performed at New York’s Felt Forum on this day in 1970. This concert, along with several others, was recorded for their double-album “Absolutely Live,” the only live album they released while the band was together.
Today in 1981, Motley Crue was formed when bassist Nikki Sixx and drummer Tommy Lee started rehearsing together. Guitarist Mick Mars and singer Vince Neil would complete the lineup a few months later.
And finally, David Bowie, Jefferson Airplane and Pink Floyd were among the artists inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on this day in 1996.
