Today in 1968, Led Zeppelin played Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, the fifth date on their first US tour. Later released as a bootleg called “Gonzaga ’68,” it’s the first ever live recording of the group.
In 1999, George Harrison was stabbed several times in the chest when an intruder broke into his house. Harrison was hospitalized, but fortunately, not seriously injured.
And birthday greetings go out to Jeff Lynne, founder of ELO and the Traveling Wilburys, who’s 73 today.
