On this day in 1968, David Crosby, Stephen Stills and Graham Nash played their first show together. At the time, they were still recording their debut album.  

In 1985, Bruce Springsteen’s “Born in the USA” passed Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” to become the second longest-lasting LP in the Billboard US Top Ten, where it stayed for 79 weeks.  

And Happy Birthday to the late Frank Zappa, composer, guitarist, bandleader, and true rock and roll original. He was born today in 1940.
