TODAY IN 1975, DAVID BOWIE WAS AT THE TOP OF THE U.S. SINGLES CHART WITH “FAME”, A SONG CO-WRITTEN BY JOHN LENNON, WHO CAN BE HEARD SINGING NEAR THE END OF THE SONG REPEATING THE WORDS: “FAME, FAME, FAME” BEFORE BOWIE FINISHED THE LYRICS.
IN 1976, AC/DC RELEASED THE ALBUM “DIRTY DEEDS DONE DIRT CHEAP”, BUT ONLY IN EUROPE AND AUSTRALIA. THE ALBUM WAS NOT RELEASED IN THE U.S. UNTIL 1981, MORE THAN ONE YEAR AFTER LEAD SINGER BON SCOTT’S DEATH.
AND IN 1980, QUEEN HAD THE #1 ALBUM IN AMERICA WHEN ‘THE GAME’ STARTED A FIVE WEEK RUN AT THE TOP OF THE CHARTS. IT FEATURED THE HIT SINGLES “CRAZY LITTLE THING CALLED LOVE” AND “ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST”
