December 14

On this day in 1999, Paul McCartney performed at the Cavern Club for the first time since 1963. Only 150 people got to see it in person, but millions more were able to catch it live on the internet.

In 1970, Two ex-Beatles earned gold record awards for their latest singles: John Lennon for “Instant Karma,” and George Harrison for “My Sweet Lord.”

And on this day in 1980, people the world over observed 10 minutes of silence in memory of the late John Lennon, who was killed by a deranged fan six days earlier.
