On this day in 1965, The Grateful Dead played their first gig at Bill Graham’s Fillmore Auditorium. It was only their second show under that name; until about a week earlier, they were called “The Warlocks.”
Today in 1967, The Steve Miller Blues Band signed with Capitol Records for an unheard of $750,000. At the same time, they dropped “blues” and became “The Steve Miller Band.”
And in 2007, at London’s O2 Arena, the surviving members of Led Zeppelin played their first full concert in 19 years. There were more than a million requests for the 20,000 tickets available.
