On this day in 1999, the Eagles received plaques commemorating their “Greatest Hits 1971 to ’75” as America’s best selling album of the century. More than 29 million copies have been sold.  

In 1973, Fleetwood Mac’s former manager sent a group of unknown musicians on tour as Fleetwood Mac. The real band sued to stop it, but legal hassles kept the them from touring for most of the next year.  

In 1968, “The Beatles,” the self-titled two record set known as “The White Album” hit #1 on the UK charts, where it stayed for 7 weeks straight.
