  • In 1971, Rod Stewart released “Maggie May,” which would not only hit #1, but would spend 5 weeks in the top spot. 
  • In 1985, Michael Jackson outbid Paul McCartney for the rights to the Beatles’ catalog. He paid 47.5 Million dollars for more than 250 Lennon-McCartney compositions.  
  • And, birthday greetings to David Crosby, of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. The singer, songwriter, and co-founder of the Byrds turns 79 today.
