MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – Two traffic stops in Marion County ended in arrests after drivers attempted to evade law enforcement or refused to cooperate, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO). Both incidents involved unsafe vehicle conditions and violations related to license plates.
Keith Pierce

Deputy Sampedro conducted a traffic stop in the 17900 block of NE 22nd Court after noticing a trailer being towed without a visible license plate. According to MCSO, the driver, identified as Keith Pierce, became irate and refused to cooperate with deputies. He allegedly refused to exit the vehicle and battered Deputy Butler during the encounter. Pierce was ultimately taken into custody without further incident and was transported to the Marion County Jail.
Christopher Hill

In a separate incident, Deputy Goodman attempted to stop a truck that had a shattered windshield and no visible license plate. MCSO reports that the driver, Christopher Hill, refused to stop and fled the area at a high rate of speed. While deputies did not initiate a pursuit, the vehicle was found shortly after in the backyard of a residence. Deputy Corne located Hill nearby after a citizen called to report a suspicious person. Hill admitted to fleeing and deputies discovered that his driver’s license had been revoked due to a DUI. He was arrested and transported to jail.
