OXFORD, FL (352today.com) – The Sumter County Board of County Commissioners has approved the removal of trees along County Road (CR) 103 in the Oxford area due to safety concerns. The tree removal project is scheduled to begin on Monday, August 18, 2025, and is expected to take approximately one week to complete.
Message boards will be placed on Monday, August 11, 2025, to alert motorists and provide ample time for the community to plan for the temporary road closure.
CR 103 will be closed to through traffic during daytime hours only while the work is being performed. The closure will extend from CR 104 to Woodbridge Drive to allow for safe placement of equipment in the roadway.
The trees being removed are located within the clear zone and are considered a hazard. This project will bring the corridor into compliance with the Florida Greenbook standard for clear zones, which requires a minimum of four feet of clear space from the edge of the travel lane.
Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes during the daytime closure and follow posted detour signage. Access will be maintained for local residents and emergency services.
