MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – Making the community’s roadways safer.
The Florida Department of Transportation has installed a new traffic signal at the intersection of SE 58th Ave. and SE 85th Lane and will be in operation in flash mode but it’s expected to be fully operational in the near future.
Motorists on SE 58th Ave. also known as Baseline Road or SR 35, will encounter a flashing yellow light while commuting, serving as a temporary alert to help those driving on the thoroughfare to take notice and adjust to the new signal prior to its activation with red, yellow and green lights.
While the signal is in flash mode motorists should remain vigilant and proceed with caution. Drivers should yield to pedestrians, bicyclists and vehicles that are already in the intersection to make certain it’s clear before continuing.
However, motorists who are on SE 85th Lane will encounter a red flashing light requiring them to come to a complete stop before proceeding when it’s safe.
The traffic signal when it’s fully operational will enhance safety by managing traffic flow at the intersection reducing the risk of crashes.
