UPDATED TRAFFIC ALERT: Wreck on I-75 North in Marion County has been cleared; heavy backups

MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – According to FL511, the state’s real-time traffic reporting website, the wreck has been cleared from Interstate 75 (I-75) North at mile marker 352.  They say that backups are seven miles to mile marker 345.

Updated at 4 p.m. to reflect current traffic conditions: The wreck on Interstate 75 (I-75) North at mile marker 352 has been moved to the right and left shoulders.  The state says traffic is backed up for at least 16 miles to mile marker 336.

Originally published at 3:21 p.m.: The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) says there is a major traffic jam on Interstate 75 (I-75) in Marion County.

FDOT says there’s a crash on I-75 North at mile marker 352. According to FL511, the state’s real-time traffic reporting website, the accident happened around 2:15 p.m.

The state says traffic is backed up for at least seven miles to mile marker 345.

As of 3:05 p.m., the left lane going north is open.

FL511 cameras show heavy traffic congestion on both sides of the interstate.

Ocala Fire Rescue (OFR) says the accident involved a box truck, a mini dump truck, and a compact SUV.
OFR says four people have been transported to the hospital.
Emergency crews say roughly 30 gallons of fuel spilled from the box truck’s saddle tank and it will take some time to clean that up.
