Public invited to review proposed health and PE curriculum for Marion County schools

MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – Marion County Public Schools is in the process of adopting new curriculum materials for Health (grades 6–8) and HOPE Physical Education (grades 9–12). The public is invited to participate by attending an open review night scheduled for Wednesday, June 18, 2025.

During this event, members of the public can review curriculum materials under consideration by the district’s adoption review committees for the upcoming school year.

The review session will be held from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. in Building 20 on the Marion Technical Institute (MTI) campus, located at 392 SE 19 Ave., Ocala, FL, 34471.

The adoption process already includes input from parents, teachers, and community members. Each course-specific committee may consist of up to 15 voting members and one non-voting chair. These committees typically include the content area program specialist, up to eight teachers, two parents, and five community members appointed by the Marion County School Board.

After the public review, committee members will consider public input during their meeting on Monday, June 23, 2025, at MTI. The Health (grades 6–8) committee will meet in Building 2, Room 29, and the HOPE Physical Education committee will meet in Building 2, Room 32. Both meetings begin at 5 p.m. MTI is located at 1614 East Fort King St., Ocala, FL, 34471.

Committee members will vote to recommend curriculum titles to Interim Superintendent Dr. Danielle Brewer, who will then forward recommendations to the Marion County School Board for approval.
