MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – Marion County continues to move forward with phase 1 of its septic-to-sewer project in the Silver Springs Shores community, reinforcing its commitment to modern infrastructure, environmental stewardship, and reliable utility service for residents.

This phase of the project is funded through the federal American Rescue Plan grant program and represents a major investment in the protection of our drinking water and Silver Springs.

Outdated water lines that no longer meet current code standards are being replaced with newer, more resilient piping. In addition, new valves are being installed to better manage increased water flow resulting from continued neighborhood growth. Performing water tie-ins during this phase of the septic-to-sewer project enhances efficiency and minimizes disruption to the affected community.

Precautionary Boil Water Notice Issued

As part of this work, Marion County Utilities has issued a precautionary boil water notice for customers along Spring Road and Spring Loop, within the Silver Springs Shores community to allow for crews to connect new service lines to the water main.

Customers are advised to bring water intended for consumption to a rapid boil for at least one minute until the precautionary notice is lifted. Bottled water may be used as an alternative for drinking, cooking, and brushing teeth. Water used for laundry, bathing, and showering does not need to be boiled.

Once Marion County Utilities has conducted required water testing in accordance with Florida Department of Environmental Protection regulations, the affected customers will be notified that the precautionary notice has been lifted.

Residents are being notified through email, interactive community calls, and media outreach. Customers are encouraged to contact our customer service team at 352-307-6000 during regular business hours to ensure their account phone number is up to date for future notifications.

Notifying Customers

Marion County uses customer account information to quickly alert residents affected by maintenance-related pressure drops or plant shutdowns. In addition to email notifications, the County activates an automated interactive calling system to provide timely updates.
