OCALA, FL (352today.com) — Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is investigating a fatal hit-and-run that occurred late Tuesday night on Maricamp Road just east of Bahia Road.
According to FHP, a passerby reported the incident around 11:25 p.m. on July 23. Troopers arrived to find a deceased white male pedestrian in the westbound right turn lane of Maricamp Road. Investigators believe the man was walking in the turn lane when an unknown vehicle, also traveling westbound, struck him and left the scene.
FHP says that the area was dark and unlit at the time of the crash, and the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers say the suspect vehicle likely has damage to the front grille and hood area, with gray grille pieces missing.
