The driver of the vehicle that fled, 21-year-old Misaiah Mike Enriquez of Marion County, was arrested in Miami by a U.S. Marshals Task Force. He has also been charged with multiple felonies, including Vehicular Homicide, Fleeing or Eluding Law Enforcement at High Speed and Reckless Driving.)
MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – A 77-year-old Ocala woman was killed, and a 78-year-old Ocala man was seriously injured in what’s being investigated as a reckless driving incident that occurred yesterday southwest of Ocala.
According to a report by the Florida Highway Patrol, two vehicles were driving recklessly at high speed while headed northbound on SW 49th Avenue Road when a third vehicle, and SUV attempted to enter the roadway from SW 82nd Place Road. One of the vehicles engaged in reckless behavior, a sedan driven by 28-year-old Ocala man, collided with the SUV.
The other vehicle being driven recklessly, also a sedan, fled the scene, continuing northbound on SW 49th Avenue Road.
Occupants of the SUV were transported to the hospital. The driver sustained minor injuries, while one passenger sustained serious injuries and the other was pronounced dead at the facility.
Charges are pending for the driver that collided with the SUV, and law enforcement is actively seeking the other reckless vehicle.
