Ocala Police and Marion County Sheriff’s Office Arrest Armed Robbery Suspect in Joint Operation

OCALA, FL (352today.com) – On Wednesday, January 28, 2026, Major Crimes detectives with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) and the Ocala Police Department (OPD) arrested Clinton Deon Scarlett (DOB: 09/14/1970) on the following charges: three counts of Robbery with a Firearm, four counts of Possession of a Weapon or Ammunition by a Convicted Felon, Aggravated Fleeing with Property Damage, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of a Synthetic Cannabinoid, and Driving While License Suspended/Revoked (DWLSR).

At approximately 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2026, Scarlett entered the Family Dollar store in Marion Oaks, where he pointed a firearm at a store clerk and manager while demanding money. Later that same day, at approximately 7:15 p.m., Scarlett entered the Shoe Station located at 2800 SW 24th Avenue and held the cashier at gunpoint while demanding money.

On Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2026, at approximately 9:20 a.m., Scarlett entered the Murphy Oil gas station located at 9558 SW Highway 200 and again held the cashier at gunpoint while demanding money. During this incident, a witness provided information regarding the vehicle Scarlett used to flee the scene. Utilizing investigative tools and witness information, detectives were able to identify Scarlett as the suspect in all three robberies.

MCSO and OPD law enforcement personnel later located Scarlett driving westbound on NW 8th Street toward NW Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue. When deputies and officers attempted a traffic stop, Scarlett fled. During the pursuit, Scarlett collided with a power pole at the intersection of NW 9th Avenue and NW 6th Street, after which he was taken into custody without further incident. A subsequent search revealed Scarlett was in possession of cocaine and K2, a synthetic cannabinoid.

Scarlett was transported to the Marion County Jail, where he is currently being held without bond.
