Navy bombing training scheduled in Ocala National Forest this week

MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – The U.S. Naval Air Station Jacksonville has scheduled live and inert bombing exercises at the Pinecastle Range Complex in the Ocala National Forest from Monday, June 16, through Sunday, June 22. Training will happen daily between 2 p.m. and 12:30 a.m.

During active bombing periods, wildlife in the area may become temporarily displaced. Officials encourage residents and visitors to use extra caution when driving through the forest and nearby roads, as animals may wander onto highways.

Locals are also reminded to secure outdoor items that could attract wildlife and to follow Florida Fish and Wildlife’s bearwise guidelines to help prevent dangerous encounters, especially with black bears.
