OCALA, Fla. — A 35-year-old motorcyclist died early Saturday morning following a collision with a sedan at a southwest Ocala intersection, according to the Ocala Police Department.
Officers responded to the scene shortly after 2 a.m. on Aug. 23 at the intersection of Southwest 17th Street/Southwest 20th Court and State Road 200.
Investigators said the BMW motorcycle was traveling south on SW 20th Court when it entered the intersection. At the same time, a Volkswagen sedan was heading east on SR 200 and also entered the crossing. The two vehicles collided in the intersection, with the sedan striking the side of the motorcycle.
The motorcyclist was transported to HCA Florida Ocala Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. His identity has not been released. No other injuries were reported.
The Ocala Police Department said the crash remains under investigation as they work to determine which driver had the right-of-way.
