MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) — Marion County is joining the nationwide celebration of National Park and Recreation Month, honoring the essential role that park and recreation professionals play in supporting healthy, connected communities.
This year’s theme, “Build Together, Play Together,” reflects Marion County Parks & Recreation’s continued focus on growth, community development, and collaboration.
Throughout July, the department will highlight local programs, facilities, and services designed to bring residents together and encourage healthy living. A countywide social media campaign will also promote community engagement, encouraging residents to explore local parks and learn about the projects shaping the future of recreation in Marion County.
“This year’s theme, Build Together, Play Together, is by far my favorite because it speaks directly to the season that our department is in — growth and development,” said Sara Lambert, Parks & Recreation’s community engagement coordinator. “It’s so exciting to share all of the amazing things that are being built throughout the county.”
The Marion County Board of County Commissioners shared their appreciation for the Parks & Recreation staff and volunteers, highlighting their commitment to serving the public.
“Thank you to the entire Parks & Recreation team and PRAC committee for all they do every day!” said County Commission Chairman Kathy Bryant. “We encourage the community to visit all of our parks.”
Nationally, more than 160,000 full-time professionals and countless part-time workers and volunteers contribute to keeping parks accessible, safe, and beneficial to public health and well-being.
