The Marion County Litter Task Force has established the Community Impact Award to recognize individuals and organizations who go above and beyond to make the county a cleaner, more beautiful place.
At the Marion County Commission meeting on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, the award was proudly presented to Miguel Sanchez for his outstanding leadership and dedication to environmental stewardship.
Miguel independently founded Marion Oaks Community Beautification Crew, a volunteer group that meets monthly to clean up the community. He not only organizes and leads these cleanups but he also partnered with local schools so high school students can earn volunteer hours through the program, engaging the next generation in community service and environmental responsibility.
In addition, Miguel actively encourages participation in Marion County’s Adopt-a-Road program and helps coordinate cleanup efforts throughout Marion Oaks. His passion, initiative, and commitment inspire others to take action and make a tangible difference in the community.
“We have 24 volunteers that work together to help keep Marion Oaks clean,” Sanchez said. “Thank you to them and the entire community for this recognition and honor. We see it getting better and we are going to keep on doing the work.”
Chairman Kathy Bryant added, “Thank you to Miguel and the entire team for helping keep Marion Oaks beautiful. We appreciate all that you do.”
