MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – Marion County is proud to recognize the hardworking individuals behind the scenes who help keep our streets clean, our neighborhoods safe, and our environment protected. The Board of County Commissioners has officially proclaimed June 16–24, 2025, as Waste and Recycling Workers Week, honoring the vital contributions of waste and recycling professionals throughout the county.
These essential workers perform demanding and often hazardous jobs—rain or shine—to ensure the reliable collection, transport, and processing of household and commercial waste. Their efforts not only maintain our community’s public health but also support environmental sustainability and enhance the overall quality of life in Marion County.

“These professionals are the unsung heroes of our daily lives,” said Commission Chairman Kathy Bryant. “Their hard work, dedication, and professionalism are deeply appreciated, and we are proud to recognize their service through this proclamation.”
The week also highlights the outstanding work of Marion County’s Solid Waste department, whose team uphold the county’s commitment to a cleaner, safer future. From recycling operations to landfill management, their work forms the backbone of an environmentally friendly community.
As part of National Waste and Recycling Workers Week, Marion County encourages residents to take a moment to show appreciation to the individuals who help keep our community clean and safe; day in and day out.
