MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com)—Marion County recently announced two closures, one in Dunnellon and one in Ocala, that could affect travel.
Roadway closures can be a real bother, especially if your daily commute is detoured. This can throw off travel plans, promote tardiness, and become a nuisance.
Worse, you’re not informed about them, which could lead to uncertainty about where to detour and how long the closure will last.
While this might sound stressful, we’ve got you covered to ensure this doesn’t happen.
Temporary Closures for Boomtown Days
On Saturday, April 12, motorists can expect temporary road closures on W. Pennsylvania Ave. from Cedar St. to U.S. Highway 41 and on Cedar St. from W. Pennsylvania Ave. to West McKinney Ave.
The closures make way for the 2025 Boomtown Days and Art Show hosted by the Dunnellon Chamber & Business Association.
The one-day event will close down those streets from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The county says crews will be on-site to place barricades and signs to detour traffic around the event, but it suggests travelers find alternate routes if possible to avoid delays.
Intermittent Road and Sidewalk Closures on SW 49th Avenue Rd.
From Tuesday, April 8th to Tuesday, June 10th, motorists should expect intermittent road and sidewalk closures on SW 49th Avenue Rd. from SW 66th St. to SW 80th St. and the area of SW 71st Place Rd.
The intermittent closures are scheduled between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. within those dates.
The closures make way for Hughes Brothers Construction, which will perform alternating single-lane closures on SW 49th Avenue Rd.
The county says crews will place barricades and signs directing traffic through the work zone. Delays are expected, and the county promotes finding an alternate route.
