OCALA, FL (352Today) — 352Today is currently seeking an experienced and community-minded editor-in-chief to lead its growing digital newsroom in Ocala.
The role is a unique opportunity for a journalist who believes in the essential role of free, unbiased local news — and who’s ready to help build a newsroom that reflects and serves its neighbors.
As part of North Central Florida Media Group, 352Today delivers hyper-local journalism without paywalls or partisan spin. The site focuses on what matters most to Ocala residents, from education and public safety to local government, small businesses and community milestones.
“We’re committed to journalism that informs and uplifts,” said a spokesperson for 352Today. “Our mission is simple: to keep Ocala connected through reliable, accessible, and impactful local reporting.”
About the Role
The editor-in-chief will be responsible for overseeing all editorial operations, guiding newsroom strategy, mentoring staff and freelancers, and ensuring daily coverage remains timely, relevant and community-focused.
Key responsibilities include:
- Directing editorial planning and news coverage
- Assigning, editing and publishing stories with accuracy and AP style
- Collaborating with contributors, photographers and community partners
- Upholding the site’s standards of fairness, transparency and inclusion
- Engaging with readers through events, email and social media
Who We’re Looking For
Ideal candidates will bring at least five years of newsroom experience, including time in editorial leadership. A background in local news — especially in Florida or similar midsized markets — is strongly preferred.
Qualified applicants will also demonstrate:
- Sound news judgment and excellent editing skills
- A passion for serving communities through journalism
- Comfort working in a small, fast-paced digital environment
- A collaborative leadership style and commitment to newsroom mentorship
- Deep respect for journalistic ethics and objectivity
Why 352Today?
At 352Today, the mission goes beyond reporting. Every story published, every newsletter sent, and every interview conducted is part of a larger goal: to build a more informed, connected, and engaged Ocala.
The publication operates independently with community service at its core, providing free access to news that residents can rely on.
“We don’t chase clicks. We chase what matters,” said the editorial team. “This is a place where journalists can make a real difference — and where readers know they come first.”
