House fire in NW Ocala leaves four pets dead; no injuries reported

MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) — A house fire in the 4000 block of NW 48th Avenue on Wednesday afternoon resulted in the loss of several family pets.

Marion County Fire Rescue and Ocala Fire Rescue crews were dispatched around 1:12 p.m. after a 911 caller reported a home on fire with five animals trapped inside. Firefighters arrived minutes later to find smoke coming from the residence and immediately launched an aggressive interior attack.

The blaze was brought under control within 10 minutes. During the search, crews discovered that three dogs and one cat had died in the fire. No injuries were reported to any residents or firefighters.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
