GAINESVILLE, FL (352today.com) – Lords and ladies from across north-central Florida are invited to join in the cultural activities associated with Gainesville’s annual Hoggetowne Medieval Faire.

This year’s festival is being billed as “Hoggetowne Goes Downtown” since the bastion of medieval revelry is moving to Gainesville’s Depot Park.

You’ll have to get your fill of medieval music and merriment this weekend only as the festival has been condensed from three weekends to one.
“Though we lament the inability to secure a site for the traditional three weekends of the Hoggetowne Medieval Faire, we bring thee tidings of a temporary solution that shall not leave thee bereft of merriment,” said organizers on the festival’s website.
In order to smooth over any discontent this may present for frequent festivalgoers, admission will be FREE.
Due to the downtown location, organizers say the festival will be a somewhat scaled down version of the medieval experience.
But don’t despair, representatives say there still be plenty of artisans and craftspeople, olde world demonstrations, the royal knighting ceremony and the clash of swords in combat. And, of course, you’ll still get to “savor the timeless delight of turkey legs.”
