Former Ocala nonprofit director arrested for $100K fraud, grand theft

OCALA, FL (352today.com) — The former executive director of Open Arms Village has been arrested for allegedly defrauding the nonprofit of more than $100,000.

Dennis Grundy, 40, was taken into custody on June 20 following an investigation by Ocala Police Department Detective Cespedes. According to police, a warrant was issued on June 13 after evidence surfaced showing Grundy used unauthorized checks, fraudulent credit card and PayPal transactions, and manipulated financial records to mislead the organization’s board.

The alleged activity occurred between 2023 and 2025. Grundy is now facing felony charges of Grand Theft of $100,000 or more and Organized Fraud of $50,000 or more.

The investigation is ongoing.
