Crime Roundup: Warrants, Drugs, Weapons and DUI Lead to Multiple Arrests in Marion County

OCALA, FL (352today.com) – Marion County deputies made several arrests in separate incidents involving drugs, weapons, indecent exposure and driving under the influence. according to sheriff’s reports.

Deputy Gomez-Rivera was patrolling in the 17100 block of E Fort King Street when he encountered McKayla Wilkerson. A records search showed Wilkerson had an active warrant for trespassing. Deputies said a search of her belongings also uncovered fentanyl. She was arrested on the outstanding warrant and new drug charges before being booked into the Marion County Jail.

Later, Deputy Larson conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Silver Road and Emerald Road for speeding. The driver, identified as 19-year-old Javarious Vaughn, was driving with a suspended license. Authorities said Vaughn was also found with marijuana and a concealed handgun. Florida law requires a permit to carry a concealed firearm, which Vaughn is too young to obtain. He was arrested and transported to jail.

In another case, Corporal Jean-Francois responded to a residence in the 12100 block of SE 85th Court after a complaint of indecent exposure. According to investigators, Osvaldo Alfonso was seen standing naked in his front yard, where neighbors – including a young child – could clearly view him. Alfonso was arrested on charges of indecent exposure and taken to jail.

Deputy Badio also investigated a reported armed vehicle burglary involving a tow truck driver who had been assisting Edwin Perez with a disabled vehicle. The victim told deputies that while he was working, Perez entered his tow truck and took a .22 caliber firearm from the center console. Authorities said Perez admitted to stealing the weapon, which was later recovered. He was arrested and charged with burglary and theft.

Meanwhile, Deputy Wyman conducted a traffic stop in the 4100 block of Baseline Road after observing a vehicle speeding and crossing a median. The driver, identified as Steven Laizure, showed signs of impairment, deputies said. Following field sobriety exercises, Laizure was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. At the jail, officials said he provided a breath sample of .159, nearly twice the legal limit of .08.
