OCALA, FL. (352 Today). – A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of SW 140th Street and State Road 200 claimed the life of a male driver from Citrus Springs on this morning at 8:43 a.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the collision occurred when a westbound vehicle on SW 140th Street failed to stop at a posted stop sign and entered the intersection. The vehicle collided with a northbound car traveling on State Road 200.
All occupants of both vehicles were transported to HCA Florida Ocala Hospital. The male driver of the northbound vehicle was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Authorities have not released the names of those involved. No information about the conditions of other individuals transported has been made public at this time.
The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene shortly after the incident was reported. Investigators closed the intersection for several hours while gathering evidence and reconstructing the crash.
This intersection, located in southwest Marion County, is known for its high traffic volume and limited visibility in certain directions. Residents in the area have voiced concerns in the past regarding signage and speed control along State Road 200.
